Título: “Capitalizing on Psychiatric Genetics: Strategies for Translating Genetic Findings into Clinical Care”
Psychiatric genetic has made substantial progress in the past decade. However, this progress has yet to be reflects in clinical practice for a number of reasons, including a clinical knowledge gap. One goal of this lecture is to familiarize the clinical audience with the current state of psychiatric genetics, focusing on recent advances and current limitations. In addition, the lecture will describe the difficulties translating psychiatric genetics discoveries into treatment and how current treatment practices might change. Finally, the lecture will examine how allied phenotypes or endophenotypes can help bridge the gap between genetic findings and clinical practice.
The learning objectives of this session are:David C. Glahn es catedrático de Psiquiatría y Psicología de la Universidad de Yale. Con un factor h de 50, su línea principal de investigación es el estudio de los genes que predisponen a desarrollar enfermedades mentales como la esquizofrenia, el trastorno bipolar y la depresión. Para ello ha desarrollado tareas neurocognitivas, neuroimagen estructural y funcional en estudios genéticos de familias a gran escala.
