Robotic surgery current knowledge and gaps module

The fifth of the modules of the International Forum on Precision Medicine will begin on 5 April, focusing on robotic surgery. A forum for debate in which the current and future situation of robotic surgery in urology and colorectal surgery and an analysis of training and specialisation in this field will be reviewed.

"Robotic surgery: current knowledge and gaps" is coordinated by Prof. Marcos Gómez Ruiz, General and Digestive System Surgery specialist. Colorectal Surgery Unit and Dr. Roberto Ballestero Diego Urology Unit at Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital. The Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital has a robotic surgery programme that began in 2010 and has become a world reference centre in surgery and a centre for training and research into new developments.

The forum will be taught by world-leading experts in robotic surgery in the field of Urology, Colorectal Surgery and academia from leading centres in these specialties: University of Rochester Medical Center (New York), Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio, USA), University of Portsmouth (England), Degli Studi di Milano (Italy) and Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla.

The 6-hour forum will be taught entirely in English given the international nature and is aimed at clinical, research and support staff with an interest in this speciality, who wish to learn about research and research-related aspects and precision medicine from experts.
